Wame is the Brand registered for violins made by Mr. Jianhua Tan and Ms. Sumei Mai, both are top level Chinese violin makers. The brand has been used since 1972 and Mr. Tan and Ms. Mai jointly set up and established Wame Violin Studio in Guangzhou, China. Wame instruments are mainly designed, made and tailored for the professional violinists, violists and cellists. The wood material for Wame products is strictly selected and air-dried for a long period. All Wame violins are completely hand made according to the traditional Italian idea of design and craftsmanship so that the tone qualities of Wame instruments are warm, rich and colorful like old Italian ones.

Wame is a specialist to make copies of precious old violins.

To make the copied instruments with high fidelity, Mr. Tan and Ms. Mai visited visited the famous Morassi Violin Workshop Cremona, Italy and a special trip to San Francisco, USA to compare their copied ¡°Heifetz, ex David¡± with the authentic violin which was used by Heifetz and is temporarily in the hand of San Francisco Symphony¡¯s Concert Master who tried the copied violin and fully praised it: ¡°It sounds beautiful, balanced and rich and will also be a famous violin many years later¡±.

Wame violins have been used as both solo and concert instruments in many conservatories of music and professional music groups including some most prestigious orchestras in China, America and Europe. Quite a few violinists used Wame violins to attend international violin competitions and the instruments were praised by many jury members and musicians including Virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin who met Mr. Tan and Ms. Mai at a concert in Beijing.
